A Heart for Helping Less Fortunate Youth

Gerald Sprayregen says philanthropy is rewarding, but more importantly, he hopes the youth touched by his work find inspiration to one day follow in his footsteps. This is true for students at Miami Dade College too, where he recently gave $100,000 to create an emergency fund.

Knight Foundation Renews Support for Displaced Puerto Rican Students

MDC has been awarded a second gift of $250,000 from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to continue supporting Puerto Rican students displaced after Hurricane Maria. The renewal gift assists students with tuition, living expenses and other costs associated with emergency relocation. To date, the program has helped more than 150 students.

Social Venture Partners Miami Teams Up with MDC to Award Student Scholarships

Miami Dade College Foundation has collaborated with Social Venture Partners Miami (SVP Miami) to establish a $200,000 scholarship fund for Miami Dade College students. Fourteen MDC students have been selected to receive the Social Venture Partners Scholarship so far this year, with additional scholarships slated to be awarded in the Spring.

I AM MDC Day Raises Record $1 million+

Miami Dade College Foundation raised a record $1 million for scholarships and programs that support students on its third annual I AM MDC Day on Sept. 6. The amount raised more than quadrupled last year's total of $228,543.

Braman Scholarship Helps MDC Students Graduate

The Braman Family Foundation has supplemented last year's gift of $1 million with another $500,000 to continue offering completion scholarships to MDC and FIU students in their final year of studies. In total, 750 MDC students will benefit from the Braman Family Foundation scholarship. Hear how it has made a difference in the lives of students so far.

Journalism Fund Named in Memory of Pulitzer Prize-winning Photographer Alan Diaz

Family, friends and colleagues of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Alan Diaz have established a memorial fund at Miami Dade College. The Alan Diaz Journalism Fund will support student scholarships and offer program support for MDC's Summer High School Journalism Institute.

The Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College, which is home to our city's thriving cultural programs, is participating in the Partners in Preservation 2018 contest. Your vote daily through Oct. 26 will help win funding to renovate the Freedom Tower's Cuban Exile Exhibit and Museum of Art and Design.
