MDC Opens Doors For Talented Miami Artist
Art has always been a vital part of Reinaldo (Rey) Jaffet’s life. It wasn’t until he became a student at the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) that he gained national recognition for his work, thereby opening doors to a brighter future full of opportunity.
In 2012, Rey was the honored with the prestigious National Scholastic American Visions Drawing Award, and his work was displayed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. For three consecutive years, his art has also been featured in various galleries throughout Wynwood and South Beach during Art Basel. In 2015, Rey transferred to the University of Florida to continue his studies. As a recipient of the Frances Wolfson Art Scholarship, he says he’s grateful to Frances Wolfson and the Wolfson family for helping him push toward his dream of becoming an internationally-renowned artist. He’s appreciative of the philanthropic support that allows him the opportunity to focus on his education and perfect his craft.
Rey’s unique artistic style is a combination of modern realism and urban influences, along with hints of pop and street art. In 2015, Rey completed two large-scale wall murals at Miami Jewish Health Systems. For a glimpse of that work, watch this video. Also watch his video testimony.
