Finding Opportunity and a Second Home at MDC

When Enrique Sepulveda registered for classes at MDC two years ago, his world changed and he was welcomed into a family – a family he felt he never had. With his strong determination to succeed and guidance from MDC mentors, Enrique triumphed over homelessness, the effects of parental substance abuse and the pervasiveness of gang violence in his neighborhood. In time, he was elected vice president of the Student Government Association at Wolfson Campus and was awarded a scholarship to study in Indonesia for the summer.

MAGIC students

MAGIC Celebrates its First Graduates

Miami Dade College’s Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) celebrated its first class of graduates this year – 14 talented animators who have bright futures ahead. Upon graduation, 12 of the students already had jobs and the others were weighing multiple offers – an impressive feat for a growing program.

Class of 2017 Pays it Forward

This year’s graduating students were the first to take part in a new tradition at Miami Dade College – the 2017 Class Gift. With a gift of $20.17, the MDC Class Gift Campaign was an opportunity for new graduates to pay it forward for students who follow after them. The campaign raised $4,104 for student scholarships through the I AM MDC Fund, surpassing our goal and proving that #SharksGive

2017 HOF inductees

New Group of Distinguished Alumni Inducted into Hall of Fame

From an accomplished banker and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist to an internationally renowned lawyer and entrepreneur turned public servant, Miami Dade College Foundation inducted 15 honorees into this year’s MDC Alumni Hall of Fame. The inductees represent 15 different industries and graduation years spanning 1967 to 2004. They were recognized for their professional achievements and service to the community.
